Attar vs EDT — know your concentration
Oil, alcohol, longevity, and when to wear each in Pakistan's climate.
Choosing your format
Attars (oil-based)
Alcohol-free oil concentrates applied to pulse points — wrists, behind ears, throat. One dab of gulab or oud attar lasts 12–24 hours. Best for mehndi, Eid morning, wedding trousseau, and namaz. Not ideal for hot afternoon spray refresh — apply sparingly.
EDTs (eau de toilette)
Alcohol-based sprays with 4–6 hour projection — office, university, daily rotation. Lighter than oud parfums. Refresh midday in summer if needed. Pair with travel atomizer for handbag carry.
Oud sprays (parfum concentration)
Our oud sprays sit between attar intensity and EDT lightness — 8–12 hours on skin. Two sprays maximum. Best for evening events, winter Islamabad, and wedding receptions.
Note pyramids
Top notes — what you smell in the first 15 minutes (citrus, pepper). Heart notes — the character on skin for hours (rose, amber). Base notes — the trail that lingers (oud, musk, sandalwood). Every Oud Avenue PDP lists all three layers.
Layering
Apply sandalwood attar as base, then oud spray on clothing (not same pulse point). Never rub wrists together — it crushes top notes. See our journal post on layering for wedding season.
